Who we are
MUDESAT — Sardinian Ethno-Anthropological Museum Network, Accessible to All — is a network connecting small ethnographic museums across Sardinia. It was created to bring scattered collections together into a single shared heritage, open and accessible to everyone.
In details
Accessible to all is a commitment
To share the initiative of the MuDESAT Association, we searched “in vain” for a list of Sardinian ethnoanthropological museums. Accessibility, a commitment underlined in the association name, begins with availability. Being present in a destination's main search medium, the web, with a museums clear and simple presentation, up-to-date days and times of view, address and telematic delivery is already a qualitative leap. Thanks to a museum network portal which offers inclusive communication, accessibility is facilitated.
Why we exist
Across Sardinia, museums and collections have grown out of the dedication of individuals and local communities. They preserve clothing, tools, rituals and memories of a rural and pastoral world at risk of being lost. Yet too often, they remain isolated and difficult to find. We bring them together in a network, giving each one greater visibility, access to resources and opportunities for shared projects, while making this heritage easier to discover and truly accessible to everyone.
Our Principles
- Heritage — preserving and passing on Sardinia’s traditions.
- Accessibility — museums that are truly open to everyone: it’s in our name.
- Network — together, we achieve more than we ever could alone.
Who Makes Up MuDESAT
MUDESAT is the result of a collaborative effort between several organisations, each contributing its own expertise and role:
- Promakos — project initiator and coordinator
- Università di Cagliari — scientific expertise and ethno-anthropological collections
- Fondazione Altopiano della Giara — local presence and stewardship of the area’s heritage
- UNLA Santu Lussurgiu — cultural roots and community engagement
